The Perfect Remote Work Escape: My Extended Stay at Harriet’s Cottage, a guest’s perspective.

Work can be fun in Dingle
Hike in the morning, work in the afternoon

If you've ever dreamt of escaping the daily grind and working from a place filled with natural beauty, Irish charm, and all the modern amenities you need, then Harriet’s Cottage in Dingle, Ireland, should be at the top of your list. I recently (that’s me in the photos) had the opportunity to experience an extended remote work stay in this idyllic cottage and let me tell you – it was the perfect blend of productivity and exploration.

Dingle is one of Ireland's most enchanting towns, known for its dramatic landscapes, vibrant culture, and welcoming people. From its stunning coastal views to its lively pubs, Dingle offers a perfect backdrop for remote work and adventure. And Harriet’s Cottage is the ideal place to base yourself while balancing work with outdoor activities and relaxation.

Why Dingle?

Dingle is a hidden gem on Ireland’s west coast, offering an extraordinary mix of nature, culture, and hospitality. With the wild beauty of the Atlantic Ocean, rugged hills, and a charming town center, Dingle provides a perfect environment for remote work. The town is small enough to offer a break from the hustle and bustle, but large enough to have everything you need, from cafés to great dining spots, making it a great location for both work and leisure.

For remote workers like me, Dingle also strikes an amazing balance between peace and productivity. The slower pace of life lets you clear your head and focus, while the abundant natural beauty and outdoor adventures are perfect for after-work exploration.

Harriet’s Cottage: A Remote Worker’s Dream

Harriet’s Cottage is a cozy, stone-built haven just outside Dingle town. Surrounded by nature and rolling hills, the cottage offers everything you could need for an extended stay, with modern amenities, a welcoming atmosphere, and a location that makes both work and play seamless.

One of the key aspects that made my remote work experience here so smooth was the high-speed internet. Reliable Wi-Fi was a must for me, and Harriet’s Cottage delivered – whether I was hopping on Zoom calls, sending emails, or diving into deep-focus work, I never had to worry about connectivity issues. It's hard to find a perfect balance between getting things done and being in such a beautiful location, but with fast and stable internet, I was able to enjoy both.

Inside the cottage, you'll find a bright and comfortable space – perfect for focusing on work or unwinding after a long day. The cozy living room made it easy to relax in the evenings, while the well-equipped kitchen allowed me to prepare my own meals (with fresh local ingredients, of course!). And if you’re a coffee lover like me, the peaceful setting made morning coffee feel even more special.

Work, Hike, Repeat: The Best of Both Worlds

For anyone looking to stay productive while also enjoying nature, Dingle offers endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Harriet’s Cottage is ideally situated to make the most of both.

In the mornings, I would settle into the cozy workspace in the cottage, with views of the surrounding hills and ocean, and dive into my work. After lunch, I’d often break up my day by heading out for a hike. Dingle is home to some of Ireland’s most beautiful trails, including the famous Slieve Mish Mountains and the Dingle Way. Whether you prefer a challenging hike or a leisurely walk, there’s something for every level of outdoor enthusiast.

The Dingle Peninsula is also a hiker’s paradise, with spectacular cliffside views, rolling green pastures, and scenic beaches to explore. Hiking along the coast, I had the chance to catch my breath, soak in the natural beauty, and return to work feeling refreshed and inspired.

If you’re looking for a break from work, Dingle's nearby outdoor attractions offer endless opportunities to disconnect and recharge.

Exploring Dingle’s Vibrant Culture: Dining, Nightlife, and More

One of the things I loved most about staying in Harriet’s Cottage was its proximity to the heart of Dingle town. It’s only a short walk into town, and during my stay, I enjoyed strolling down its colorful streets to explore local restaurants, cafes, and pubs.

Dingle is well-known for its food scene, with an abundance of fresh seafood, traditional Irish dishes, and modern takes on local fare. I particularly enjoyed dining at Out of the Blue, a cozy seafood restaurant offering some of the freshest catch you’ll find in Ireland, and The Chart House, which blends excellent local ingredients with creative flair. For a laid-back evening, Kennedy’s Bar and Dick Mack’s offer cozy settings where you can unwind with a pint of Guinness while soaking up the town’s vibrant atmosphere.

But Dingle doesn’t just offer great food – it also has a lively nightlife. Even though the town is small, its pubs come alive with traditional music and dancing. Whether it was enjoying a live music session at An Droichead Beag or chatting with locals at John Benny's Pub, there was always a chance to experience Ireland’s famous hospitality and enjoy a fun night out. After a full day of hiking or working, I’d often find myself enjoying a pint while listening to local musicians play traditional Irish tunes. It was a perfect way to relax and wind down.

A Day in the Life at Harriet’s Cottage
